The True Story of Wrestlemania is a DVD worth watching. It chronicles the growth of Wrestlemania of over 27 years. Whether you believe everything that is said in this DVD or not, because some parts may be untrue, but it is a must watch DVD. Wrestlemania is the biggest wrestling event in the history of professional wrestling, here is its story.

The True Story of Wrestlemania is a 3 disc set collaborating all the historic moments with wrestlers giving their views on the blockbuster extravaganza. Disc 2 and 3 offers the fans a magnificent collection of Wrestlemania matches.

The first hour was the most interesting in my opinion, their is defiantly more of a story to the earlier Wrestlemania’s compared to the second hour. The second hour focuses on more of a retrospective on the wrestlers involved. favorite matches, and the WrestleMania experience. The first hour is the actual story itself, while hour two is more off what you expected, but it was still really enjoyable to watch.

I have to say I am very pleased that WWE gave Hulk Hogan the admiration and respect he deserved, considering Hogan works with TNA and all. Hogan is discussed in much detail and rightfully so. In a way I am surprised, it seemed as if the DVD was made before Hogans current TNA run, but I guess Hogan was one of the main reasons Wrestlemania is so big today. It made me like Hogan again and I respect him more now after watching the DVD. It was pretty much all Hogan and the second hour he was rarely mentioned, but he got the credit he deserved. I hear Vince and Hogan are on good terms now. It was so good that ”Hulkamania will live forever” meant something, I have belief that he will be in a WWE ring again someday.

Along with Hogan, another noticeable figure was mentioned, Howard Finkel, the legendary and hall of fame announcer who announced the early Wrestlemania’s. Fun WrestleMania trivia fact: Did you know that Howard Finkel is the only WWE talent to have appeared on every WrestleMania event?

The True Story of WrestleMania features a medley of WWE Hall of Famers, Superstars, celebrities, journalists, behind the scenes staff and the big cheese Mr. McMahon himself as they chronicle the arduous journey that began with one idea and exploded into a phenomenon that revolutionised and changed the face of not only the professional wrestling industry, but the opinion of the business held by the world outside it.

The one problem that I will say about it is that some Wrestlemania’s are glossed on, overlooked or not even mentioned. We saw some interviews of behind-the-scene workers who never appear on WWE programming, it was so cool to just see footage of them doing their job and preparing for the biggest event of the year in the wrestling world as well as get a look at never-before-seen footage from the likes of WrestleMania IX at Caesar’s Palace.

Nevertheless, The True Story of WrestleMania is extremely interesting and a very pleasing way to commemorate pro wrestling’s premier event, not least because it’s backed up with two discs worth of matches that illustrate some of the facts and figures discussed in the film, from Hulk Hogan dropping Andre the Giant to the canvas with a body slam in front of over 90,000 screaming fans, to Shawn Michaels soaring off a ladder with a splash onto Razor Ramon. A fantastic release.
