Hi guys, I’m here with a review of this week’s Smackdown and I’d like to start by thanking my Sky+ box for allowing me to record Smackdown and fast forward through the ads and all the Raw recaps. Matches and segments will be rated out of 5. 1= poor, 2= decent, 3= good, 4= very good and 5= great. It is as simple as that. Ok then, let’s get started.

Segment:

We start off this week’s Smackdown with the best wrestler in the world, CM Punk. Punk talks about the 4th of July and what it means to him and says that independence is important to him. He goes on to say that he has two main goals, 1: is to get his hands on Brock Lesnar and 2: to win Money in the Bank again and become WWE Champion. Punk is then interrupted by Alberto Del Rio minus the suspended Ricardo Rodriguez. ADR says that he is the World Heavyweight Champion and that Smackdown is his show. ADR buries the crowd and America. Punk talks about ADR’s face gimmick and how he used to love America and how he use to start ‘USA’ chants. ADR orders Punk out of the ring because Smackdown is his show. Punk tells ADR to make him. Out comes Teddy Long not to make a tag team match but to make Alberto Del Rio v CM Punk for the main event.

Segment Rating: 3 out of 5.

Segment:

Punk is backstage with Paul Heyman. Heyman tells Punk that this match against ADR makes no sense to him and he should be preparing for Money in the Bank. Heyman offers to get Punk out of the match with ADR but Punk says he wants the match. Heyman then offers to be at Punk’s side at Money in the Bank but Punk tells him no. Heyman wishes Punk luck for his match against ADR.

Segment Rating: 3 out of 5.

Match: The Usos v Team Rhodes Scholars:

Winner: The Usos.

Sandow and Rhodes cut a promo on their way to the ring. Sandow says that Rhodes Scholars will not break up despite that both of them are in Money in the Bank. Rhodes says may the best man win. This a short match. Rhodes Scholars take control early on by isolating one of The Usos. Rhodes Scholars try and hit a tag team on said Uso but he counters and super kicks Sandow while the other Uso super kicks Rhodes. The Usos hit a double frog splash on Sandow for the win. The Shield appears on the big screen. Rollins says that The Shield are strong and focused, Reigns says The Usos will be put in their place and Ambrose says he will win Money in the Bank.

Match Rating: 2 out of 5.

Match: Alicia Fox v Kaitlyn

Winner: Alicia Fox.

Standard divas match. Alicia Fox dominates early on and then Kaitlyn makes her comeback. AJ then comes out and skips around the ring and tries to enter the ring but is stopped by Kaitlyn who gets rolled up by Alicia Fox for the win. After the match Kaitlyn runs after AJ to the backstage area.

Match Rating: 1 out of 5.

Segment:

AJ is fast walking backstage and is stopped by the Bella Twins, who say they want the Divas title. AJ says that she doesn’t care and leaves. She meets Big E and tells him they need to go. Big E asks what about Dolph? AJ says she’ll text him later and then they leave. It seems that Dolph and AJ will be splitting up soon.

Segment Rating: 2 out of 5.

Segment:

Christian and Randy Orton are getting interviewed backstage by Renee. Christian and Orton have a back and forth saying they will beat each other tonight.

Segment Rating: 1out of 5.

Match: Christian v Randy Orton

Winner: Randy Orton.

Slow start to the match with both men exchanging moves. Christian then takes control of the match. Orton soon makes his comeback and both men exchange moves once again. Orton gets a near fall with a scoop slam and Christian gets a near fall with a spear. Orton then hits a DDT on Christian. He then goes for the RKO but Christian counters. Christian goes to the top rope and when jumps off, Orton moves and hits the RKO for the win.

Match Rating: 3 out of 5.

Segment:

Teddy Long is in his office and Paul Heyman comes in. Long says he wants Heyman on commentary for ADR v CM Punk. Heyman refuses but Long insists. Heyman leaves with a smirk on his face. Lol at Michael Cole telling JBL to watch his wallet.

Segment Rating: 2 out of 5.

Match: Dolph Ziggler v Drew McIntyre

Winner: Dolph Ziggler.

Dolph Ziggler cuts a promo before the match. He says he’ll never forget the night he won the World Heavyweight title. He says that ADR took advantage of his concussion and that at Money in the Bank he will get back the title. Ziggler shows off in the early stages. Drew McIntyre then takes control with a powerbomb into the turnbuckle. McIntyre gets a couple of near falls before Ziggler makes his comeback. Ziggler hits the ZigZag to pick up the win. After the match, 3MB try and attack Ziggler but he gets away. He then goes back into the ring but gets away from 3MB again.

Match Rating: 2 out of 5.

Match: Fandango v Justin Gabriel

Winner: Fandango.

This was a short match which is no surprise. Fandango wins with a leg drop off the top rope. Summer Rae was looking hot.

Match Rating: 1 out of 5.

Match: CM Punk v Alberto Del Rio

Punk and ADR have some good exchanges early on in the match. Sir Alex Ferguson got mentioned by JBL which I marked out for. Punk hits a great suicide dive on ADR during the commercial break. ADR then takes control of the match with a kick to Punk’s head, ADR dominates by working on the head and neck area. ADR then gets a near fall after a brilliant enziguri to Punk when he was on the top rope. ADR and Punk end up outside the ring. ADR throws Punk into the barricade and the announce table. Heyman asks ADR to stop but ADR then hits Heyman. This enrages Punk and he attacks ADR. Both men are then counted out. Punk hits ADR with the GTS after the match. Smackdown goes off the air with Punk helping Heyman up.

I thought this week’s Smackdown was a decent show. It wasn’t as good as last weeks. I suggest you check out Christian v Randy Orton and CM Punk v Alberto Del Rio if you haven’t already.
